Pretty views, nice beach. Interesting shipwreck and the tour guide with us told us some info about it. Can't touch, climb or be 5m near it but that's reasonable
We came here on the beauty spots tour from kingfisher bay with Butch. He was an excellent guide. Remember- you aren’t meant to touch it!! It’s pretty cool that something like this gets submerged everyday and then reveals itself for all to see at low tide.
First time on Fraser Island and so totally loved it gave my patrol a great workout on the beach and it ate it up only thing is next time we will have to get accommodation and stay for a couple of days just so we can see more of the island
Beautiful place not far from Eli Creek at K’Gari. The shipwreck looks different depending on the time of the day but always looks epic!
It’s a shipwreck. Great location and great story about its history but not a lot to add expect that Queensland Parks will fine you up to $10000 for coming within 3 meters of it. No one seemed pay attention to the warning though.
Famous old from wreck from 1935 on 75 mile Beach on K 'Gari Island. We had a really nice day, warm and not a lot of wind so that made it a very enjoyable experience.
My wife and I were on a 4x4 bus tour associated with the King Fisher Resort that started at 8:30 and ended at about 3:30 so about 8 hrs of seeing the sites around K 'Gari Island (formally Fraser Island as of June 6 th 2023), it includes a nice buffet lunch as well.
The roads are bouncy and 4x4 only until you get to the beach then it smooths out into a huge firm sand beach and then ultimately reaching the wreck.
The wreck is being slowly reclaimed by the ocean every day and doesn't look like a picture I saw from last year, also do not go inside or climb the wreck as hefty fines can apply and there are police around the beach in different areas. Our bus driver/tour guide was even a recipient of a breathalyzer test by the police on the way back (he passed btw).
Cool trip and as a bonus we saw humpback whales breaching off shore.
The tour we took through The King Fisher Resort was called the K'Gari Island Beauty Spots Tour.
If you are prone to motion sickness I would suggest some of your favourite medication for the bus because it does a lot of rockin' and rollin'.
Ship has deteorited a lot since last visit 35 yrs ago but still of interest including its life story ....better off where it is rather than what the japenese ship scrappers had in store for it
Love the maheno wreck really brings out Fraser island more and more I would love to go there again but have no time, really nice place you should go and visit
